I said before the game that the Ravens’ secondary would put up it’s best performance of the season against Cleveland. I am not scared to admit that I was dead wrong.

Even with the return of Lardarius Webb against the poor Browns’ receiving core, the secondary got exploited. One particular player that did not perform well in this game was second-year safety Matt Elam. I know he is a strong safety, but he should still know how to cover receivers. He did not look like he knew how against the Browns. He got burned on a number of occasions and gave up several big plays.

The returning Webb didn’t look to good himself, getting burned a couple of times down the field as well and missing some tackles, which isn’t like Lardarius Webb.

The only player that looked good in the secondary today was Jimmy Smith, who has gotten off to a fantastic start to this season. I say we just forget about this week as it pertains to the secondary and move on, wouldn’t you concur?

Grade: F (my first F of the year!)
