The Terrapins must come into this game focused on their play on the field and not where they are playing.
Syracuse’ Carrier Dome is always a place that can get loud and rockin’ but Coach Edsall said on Tuesday that the Terps have to not let it get there.
"“No, the field’s still the same. I mean yeah it gets noisy in there, it gets loud. That’s the thing, it’s not air conditioned. Hopefully in this time of year it won’t be hot. It’s amazing, it’s the Carrier Dome but it’s not air-conditioned. But, it’s one of those things that yeah it’s compacted, it can get loud, but it’s our job to make sure it doesn’t get loud. But the field is still 120 x 53 1/3.” —Randy Edsall"
Maryland comes to Syracuse after losing a close game to West Virginia last weekend in College Park. Though the Terps lost, hopefully they can bring the fight that they showed last week with them today as they go up against the Orange.
Maryland defense is going up against a quarterback similar to their own.
Last weekend, Syracuse routed Central Michigan 40-3. They were led by their quarterback, Terrel Hunt who threw for 175 yards and a touchdown. He also used his feet to rack up 92 yards on 13 carries and three rushing touchdowns.
Syracuse doesn’t just rely on their quarterback to get it done on the ground. They also have two talented running backs in Prince-Tyson Gulley and Adonis Ameen-Moore. Both of these guys are able to break out for big runs. Each of them has over 100 rushing yards and a score a piece through two games.
Not allowing the big plays and not missing assignments will be the Terps job against a very talented offense.
Offensively, Maryland will look once again to senior leader and quarterback, C.J. Brown to lead this Terrapin team with both his arm and his legs.
Against West Virginia, Brown was able to throw for 241 yards and a score as well as run for 161 yards and a score.
For Maryland to keep the Orange on their heels, they must be able to complete passes to Stefon Diggs and Deon Long to help open up the defense.
Today’s game is the last non-confrence game for the Terps and it’s a must win if Maryland hopes to help their bowl chances heading into a tough Big Ten schedule.
My prediction is another close game with a lot of scores. Maryland will win by at least a touchdown.
The Terps will be wearing their black helmets, white jersey and black pants in today’s game.
