Baltimore Ravens Early Injury Report

The Baltimore Ravens were missing a couple of key players in Wednesday’s practice. One name that was absent will surprise you. Ever heard of Joe Flacco? You know, the guy that has been in the league for six years plus and has yet to miss a game. Well, that same Joe Flacco, missed a day of practice.

But don’t worry, it shouldn’t be too bad. According to Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun, Flacco simply “had a cold.” However, John Harbaugh’s take on the matter might be a bit more concerning.

When asked if Flacco would return to practice this week, the Baltimore Ravens head coach said “I don’t know. We’ll see.” That doesn’t sound very convincing now, does it? I wouldn’t lose sleep over it though, because Flacco was listed absent with an illness and not with any break, sprain, tear, or pull of any particular muscle.

In other news, rookie defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan injured his knee during this very practice. This news should concern you a little. The reason being because the Ravens have already lost defensive linemen Kapron Lewis-Moore (Achilles) and Brent Urban (knee) for the season. According to Wilson, he is likely to miss one or two weeks and rehab his knee during the season rather then needing surgery and missing the entire year.

Starting left tackles Eugene Monroe missed practice, but he says he will be ready. When asked if he would play on Sunday, Monroe gave a one word answer that said it all – “Yeah.”

Now that we got the bad news out of the way let’s give you some good news. Starting cornerback Lardarius Webb has been a full participant in practice this week and is very optimistic about his chances to get on the field. Webb stated that he feels good and is just waiting for Harbs to clear him to play a full game.

According to my insider sources, Webb will be playing next week. And you can rely on that news, because it’s a good source.

Fellow cornerback Asa Jackson was a full participant this week as well after suffering a concussion in the first half of Thursday night’s game. The Ravens might go from being extremely thin at cornerback to having three or four talented guys there in just one week. Wow, it’s just incredible how quickly things change!
