Fitzgerald Toussaint Added to Baltimore Ravens 53-Man Roster

After including him in their final waive of cuts last week and signing him to the practice squad, the Baltimore Ravens have promoted running back Fitzgerald Toussaint back to the active roster.

Wilson goes on to further note exactly what the reasoning behind this move was. Obviously it had something to do with the void they needed to fill in the 53-man roster after releasing veteran cornerback Derek Cox, but there’s more to it.

Those are very logical reasons, and could have played a big part in this signing. However, is Wilson implying that Toussaint won’t be featured in the running game during Ray Rice’s two game suspension when he said that he can help on special teams? Probably, because the Ravens are pretty stacked there, as they have three running backs in Bernard Pierce, Lorenzo Taliaferro, and Justin Forsett that will get more carries than him.

So as Wilson said, this move is primarily for special teams and to fill a void in the 53-man roster. You also have to remember that he rushed for over 100 yards in the final preseason game against the New Orleans Saints, so he certainly earned this promotion.
