Baltimore Ravens Likely to Re-Sign Derek Cox

After including veteran cornerback Derek Cox in their last wave of cuts on Saturday, Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun has reported that he will likely be placed back on the Baltimore Ravens roster.

This news comes as no surprise as the Ravens left only four cornerbacks on the roster, which is not enough, particularly at a position where so many players have battled injuries for Baltimore.

The Ravens just signed the sixth-year veteran Cox less than a week ago in anticipation of their starters being absent. However, Asa Jackson, Jimmy Smith, and Lardarius Webb have all returned to practice. With that being said, it’s still nice to have some depth at the cornerback position, and they will have that with Cox and third-year man Chykie Brown.

Cox, 27, has recorded 241 tackles and 14 interceptions in five seasons. He was on the San Diego Chargers last year but spent the first four years of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was recently cut by the Minnesota Vikings just over a week ago.
