This group has been the most consistent throughout the preseason.
One man who has stood out in particular is rookie C.J. Mosley out of Alabama. After recording five tackles in each of the first two preseason games, Mosley totaled just two in week three, but that wasn’t where he made his mark. Robert Griffin III did not have a good night, and Mosley capped it off in the third quarter, when he picked off RGIII‘s last pass of the game at the 27 and returned it to the Redskins nine yard-line.
However, C.J. Mosley was the third best middle/inside linebacker in this game, which is great news. Second-year man Arthur Brown, who was drafted in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft and has yet to make an impact, had himself a night. He led the team in tackles with five, so hopefully the Ravens’ can include Brown in some rotations on the defensive side.
Starting linebacker and veteran Daryl Smith totaled four tackles in this game, and all of them were solo.
As for the outside rushers, Terrell Suggs picked up two tackles and one quarterback hit on the night. Former Denver Bronco Elvis Dumervil recorded his first sack of the preseason as well. Overall, the starting linebackers have been the best group in the 2014 preseason.
