That’s right, the Old Line State is being represented by Baltimore Orioles slugger, Chris Davis and Maryland Terrapins women’s lacrosse star, Taylor Cummings in the 2014 ESPYS Awards.
Chris Davis has been nominated for the “Best MLB Player” award.
Last season, Davis blasted 53 homeruns, hit .286 and drove in 138 runs. He was and still is feared by pitchers and knows he can crank one over the fence when the Orioles need it.
Taylor Cummings has been nominated for “Best Female College Athlete” and is the only sophomore in history to win the Tewaaraton Award.
This past season, she led the Terrapins to a 23-1 record en route to their second national championship in the last five seasons.
A member of the U.S. national team, Cummings recorded IWLCA First Team All-America honors for a second straight season and paced Maryland in goals scored (63), draw controls (128), ground balls (37) and caused turnovers (30).
Both of these Maryland athletes deserve to be recognized for their accomplishments by holding an ESPY in their hands.
Voting ends on Wednesday, July 16. GO VOTE NOW!
The 2014 ESPYS will be televised on Wednesday, July 16 at 9pm ET on ESPN.
