The Maryland women’s lacrosse team won 15-12 over Syracuse in the NCAA women’s lacrosse championship game on Sunday night at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, MD. This was Maryland’s 12th national title and first since 2010.

Maryland and Syracuse were No. 1 and No. 2 respectively, and Syracuse had lost just three games this year. All were to Maryland. That includes losses in the NCAA and ACC tournament title games.

Maryland’s Taylor Cummings was awesome on draw controls, the women’s lacrosse version of a faceoff. She helped Maryland win 16 of 29 overall. Beth Glaros had five goals and an assist for Maryland, with Cummings adding three goals and an assist. Alyssa  Murray and Katie Webster each scored three goals for Syracuse.

The game had 10,311 in attendance  which is a record for the NCAA women’s championship game. The combined attendance for the final and semifinals was 18,567, which was also a record.
