What sort of encore season is reasonably possible from Chris Davis?

Everyone asks Davis over and over if he can repeat last year’s performance. What’s he supposed to say? Yes? That would look arrogant. No? That would look weak.

Davis has handled the situation well. He speaks of how wonderful the season was, and that, yes, since it was done once, it could be done again. That would not be impossible.

We don’t actually need 53 homers and 138 RBIs from Crush. Even 35 and 115 would be fantastic, especially if accompanied by a higher batter average and decrease in strikeouts.

Davis has worked on going the opposite direction and beating the mega-shifts that are deployed against him. Imagine if he did that and moved the defenses in the AL back to more standard positioning! Certainly he could then build a higher average, even in the absence of quite so stellar power statistics.

HERE is a video from yesterday of Jones beating that stinking Rays over-shift by stealing second and going right on to third base.

CONCLUSION ON IT ALL – It is a great time to be an Orioles fan!
