Here in the Land of Pleasant Living – that it, the State of Maryland – we have been pretty much shut out of March Madness. Our beloved Terps are not in it, nor even in the NIT! And the valiant effort by our one representative, Mount St. Mary’s, has come to an end in a close game as they were trailing the University of Albany by only three points with 12 seconds remaining … losing 71-64.
So what are we to do? Well, we can cheer for the great Terps’ women’s team which is among the best in the country.
Beyond that, we can participate in the FanSided Network’s Starch Madness. Yes, that is correct – no errant spelling there.
The FanSided Sports Network numbers about 260 sites, of which we here at The Baltimore Wire are among the newest start-ups … joining just this past November when there were about 240 sites on the network. Earlier today with the post on Zach Britton, we hit the 350-articles mark in just four months.
But FanSided is expanding beyond sports and into such areas as entertainment and food. So, there is a FoodSided site as part of this network! Pretty cool – you don’t see that happening with our competition out there! And hey – food and sports go together … like the song says, “baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet – they go together, in the good ‘ole USA.”
So, here’s what you do. Go to the FoodSided network HERE, and vote your way through their 64-item bracket of foods called “Starch Madness.” You’ll see that such favorites as the aforementioned apple pie have drawn a #1 seed. Check it out; it is very interesting and will draw you into some tough choices!
