After three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, Tandon Doss is now officially gone to the Jacksonville Jaguars on a two-year contract. The Ravens did not tender a restricted free agent offer to Doss.

Playing little in his first two seasons, Doss did return 23 punts for a league-best average of 15.6 yards and a touchdown. He also caught 19 passes for 305 yards. He could possibly return punts for the Jags, while also providing depth at wide receiver.

I frankly am disappointed to see Doss go and would have wished a larger role for him with the Ravens, but it was not to be.

The Smith “brothers” of the first two rounds are of course among the Ravens’ most valuable players. Jimmy Smith particularly turned a corner with a strong season in 2013.

Third-rounder Jah Reid is unfortunately more in the news these days for his March 9th strip club arrest for a brawl in Key West. He saw limited time on the field this past year after starting seven games in 2012 at left guard before undergoing season-ending foot surgery. 2014 will be Reid’s final year of a $2.6-million contract.

Chykie Brown remains with the Ravens, though he has not played a great deal. That may well change now with the loss of Corey Graham if there are no other options obtained through free agency or the draft.

Pernel McPhee is still with the Ravens, though after a solid rookie season and some big plays in the 2012 season playoffs, his name seems less heard and his presence is more in the background.

Tyrod Taylor remains the Ravens’ backup quarterback.

Anthony Allen was cut before this past season after gaining a total of 69 yards on 19 carries in 2011 and 2012.
