Maryland Men’s Basketball Tips Off in College Park

The Comcast Center is open for business once again tonight at 7PM as the Maryland Terrapins (0-1) tip-off against Abilene Christian (0-2) in their home opener. The Terps are coming off a heart-breaking one-point loss to #19 UConn, but College Park is always a great place to return to as Maryland basketball has a 75-17 (.815) record in home openers.

Although this game should be a check in the win column, Maryland needs to figure out its turnover situation now. It’s easy to play sloppy and still get wins early in the season but, once ACC play begins, the Terps will not be able to hide from this nightmare that keeps coming back to haunt them.

With true point guard Seth Allen out until January, the Terrapins will look to veterans Dez Wells and Nick Faust to run point as well as freshman Roddy Peters coming in and getting his feet wet here and there. Peters showed some sway in one or two plays against UConn. Tonight would be a great opportunity for him to get some more playing time at the point.

Yes, I know it’s the Abilene Christian Wildcats (who?) but Maryland basketball is back home in College Park! Tonight is a great opportunity for the local fans and students to show up and let this years team experience a supportive and rowdy home court atmosphere. Comcast Center is considered to be one of the hardest places to play in the nation. But, the fans must prove it by showing up and backing this year’s Terrapins squad.

“We must protect this house!” Go Terps!
