With their second round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens have selected Tyus Bowser, a linebacker out of Houston.

With their second round pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens have selected Tyus Bowser, a linebacker out of Houston.

With their first pick in the NFL Draft this year, the Ravens took cornerback Marlon Humphrey out of Alabama, and now they’ve added Tyus Bowser to their roster as well.

Bowser is a solid outside linebacker, one who is a solid pass rusher. He’s explosive, quick, and can get after the quarterback exceptionally well. He’s an ideal fit for what the Ravens need on the outside.

In 2016 with Houston, Bowser had 47 tackles with 12 tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one pass deflected. He’s an excellent athlete and a force to be reckoned with as a pass rusher.

More from Baltimore Ravens

Marlon Humphrey was somewhat of a surprising pick for the Ravens in the first round, as he addressed a need that most people thought was not as much of a priority for the Ravens. We discussed earlier today whether or not Humphrey was the player the Ravens needed in the first round.

Humphrey is a great player, no doubt, but cornerback didn’t seem to be as immediate of a need as, say, the outer linebacker position, or the wide receiver position.

However, now the Ravens have addressed another one of their needs, at linebacker with the selection of Bowser here in the second round.

The Ravens are in desperate need of an outer linebacker with the surprise retirement of Zach Orr and the release of Elvis Dumervil, and it looks like Bowser will fit that need quite well.
