The Baltimore Orioles have reassigned most of their minor league catchers to minor league camp, but Chance Sisco remains with the O’s, along with Caleb Joseph and Welington Castillo.

Earlier this week, the Baltimore Orioles reassigned Francisco Pena and Audry Perez to minor league camp, with each only having one hit in 10+ at bats.

So, what song can Sisco sing during the rest of his time with the major leaguers?

Well, with Welington Castillo having received a lot of work in the World Baseball Classic, it gives Buck Showalter the option to use the young catcher more.

More from The Baltimore Wire

Sisco is currently 5-17 with one home run, along with one double, five RBIs and three runs in the Grapefruit League. He also has struck out six times, with two walks. The batting average, .294, just off the .300 mark.

Rich Dubroff of Pressboxonline.com wrote that Buck plans on using Sisco for at least a few innings in every game until he is reassigned. The team wants to see him catch some of the best pitchers in the Orioles’ organization while becoming accustomed to being a major leaguer.

Sisco is 22-years-old, a very young 22, as his birthday was in late February. Sisco was the 2013 second round pick by the Orioles straight of high school.

Last year, he hit .320 for AA Bowie with 4 HRs, 28 2Bs, 44 RBIs and 53 runs.

One thing to note is that Sisco is not a power hitter, and never has been. His career high in the minors is six in 2016, between AA Bowie and A+ Frederick in the Carolina League.

Sisco has hit over .300 in each stop in the minor leagues. In 2013, he hit .371 in 31 games and 118 plate appearances for A- Aberdeen.

In 2014, he hit .340 in A Delmarva in 114 games and 478 plate appearances.

2015, Sisco hit .308 in 75 games and 300 plate appearances for A+ Frederick.

In 2016, the young catcher hit .320 for AA Bowie, as mentioned above.

What will 2017 bring? He will likely be at AAA Norfolk, the next step in the progression.

Sisco is the future starter for the Baltimore Orioles. The only question is whether or not he pushes his way onto the major league roster before the end of 2017.

The Baltimore Orioles will continue to allow their young catcher to grow by spending time with his major league counterparts.
