Washington Wizards interested in acquiring forward P.J. Tucker

The Washington Wizards have expressed interest in acquiring forward P.J. Tucker from the Phoenix Suns. Tucker becomes an unrestricted free agent after this season.
As the NBA Trade Deadline looms closer and closer, the Washington Wizards are expressing interest in acquiring some depth for their team. One of the people they’re interested in is forward P.J. Tucker, per Michael Scotto.
Tucker is 31-years-old and currently plays for the Phoenix Suns, where he’s average seven points per game and six rebounds per game in 28.5 minutes per game.
Scotto adds that a fair number of teams are interested in Tucker, including the Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, and Utah Jazz.

Tucker isn’t really known has an offensive threat, but is known as a solid defender. He’s not an offensive liability, however, sporting a decent 41.6% shooting percentage to go along with his seven points per game.
Tucker was drafted as the 35th pick in the second round of the 2006 draft by the Toronto Raptors. After he struggled, he was sent to Toronto’s D-League affiliate before being released by the team.
After he was released, Tucker spent some time abroad, succeeding in the Israeli Premier League, winning their MVP award in the 2007-08 season. Eventually, he came back to the NBA in 2012, signing with the Phoenix Suns, whom he’s played with since.
While the Washington Wizards have had depth issues all year, they’ve alleviated some of those issues at the guard position with the solid play from Trey Burke, Tomas Satoransky, and Kelly Oubre Jr., the Wizards have expressed interest in acquiring another guard.
Tucker gives them a defensive-minded guard who’s big enough to play forward if needed, giving the team some flexibility as to where he plays.

As we get closer and closer to the trade deadline, we’ll see what the Washington Wizards ultimately decide to do, but it seems likely that they will be buying before the deadline approaches.
