There is plenty of noise coming out of Baltimore Ravens mandatory workouts as they move forward to the start of training camp next month.

This will go down as an offseason to remember for Baltimore Ravens fans. A lot has changed since we saw Ryan Mallett going up against A.J. McCarron and the Cincinnati Bengals in the regular season finale.

The Ravens finished a season in which they finished 5-11, due to many heartbreaking losses in the fourth quarter and having more injuries than any other team. General Manager Ozzie Newsome and the rest of the front office decided they would overhaul the roster to turn things around.

Some big names are gone such as Kelechi Osemele and Daryl Smith. They added Eric Weddle, Mike Wallace, Ben Watson and Jerraud Powers in free agency.

The Ravens also made news by wearing full pads in a rookie minicamp practice. They were forced to cancel a portion of their organized team activities and paid some hefty fines because of it.

The news has not stopped there.

The Ravens finished their mandatory minicamp on Thursday, and there is still plenty going at the Under Armour Performance Center. Let’s take a look at some of the headlines:

Breshad Perriman Injury

The Ravens got fantastic news when they learned that Perriman would not need to miss the entire season due to another knee injury. He did visit Dr. James Andrews and had a minor procedure done, but should be ready by the start of the regular season.

That’s huge news for the Ravens because they need their playmaker to get on the field. It’s important for Perriman because there were reports that he was upset about potentially missing another season. Everyone gets their wish now.

Eugene Monroe Released

It was rumored all offseason that he would be on the way out. It’s finally happened. The team didn’t agree with his stance on marijuana, but more importantly, he couldn’t stay on the field.

The decision puts a lot of pressure of Ronnie Stanley and the Ravens front office. This move needs to work or Joe Flacco could be hobbling off the field again this season.

Joe Flacco Update

Speaking of the franchise quarterback, he told reporters that he expects to be on the field for the first day of training camp. He will throw to receivers in the six weeks leading up to camp, but his legs are likely still off-limits at this time.

It would be a bit of a shock if Flacco is under center for the first practices. It was only in November that he injured his knee. There is no reason to rush him back during camp. Being ready for Week One against the Buffalo Bills is more important.

More from The Baltimore Wire

Trent Richardson Injured

Some thought that when the Ravens brought in T-Rich, he could have been a potential sleeper to make the roster. I never was buying the hype, and with the news that he needs knee surgery, there is no chance.

Todd Herremans Workout

It would be a smart move for the Ravens to bring in a veteran guard to place next to rookie Ronnie Stanley. As of this time, John Urschel, Ryan Jensen and Alex Lewis, all unproven options, will battle for the opening at left guard.

The team worked out Herremans during this week’s camp and he could be an option to play guard now that Monroe is no longer with the team. He did play for offensive line coach Juan Castillo for six seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles earlier in his career.

Other Injury Updates

Elvis Dumervil, Jimmy Smith, Steve Smith and Terrell Suggs will all be available before the season starts. Each is in a different point of their rehabilitation, but it’s great to know that each will be ready for when the games matter most.

There are several other players coming back from injury that should be good to go come training camp. For a complete list of players’ injury updates, click here.

This is the time of the offseason where any new news is bad news. We have six more weeks until training camp opens and everyone needs to get healthy and be on their best behavior.
