The AFC North has been one of the toughest divisions in the National Football League in recent memory. That has a lot to do with the play from the quarterbacks.

AFC North Rankings: QB | RB | WR | TE

The NFL is a quarterback-driven league. The most successful teams have a coach-quarterback relationship they feel can lead them to a championship every single year. The AFC North has three teams that feel that way.

The Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals have been consistent in the past decade not only because of the quarterbacks, but the man in charge as well. John Harbaugh, Mike Tomlin and Marvin Lewis have each been with their franchise since 2008 or longer. In fact, the last five coaches to be fired in the AFC North were all Browns coaches.

Hue Jackson now takes over in Cleveland and many feel he might be the guy to get the Browns over the hump. The first order of business is finding a man to lead them on the field.

The Cleveland Browns have been a laughingstock in all of sports, largely because they cannot find a quarterback to lead them. Their most recent first-round experiment, Johnny Manziel, was in the news more than on the football field. He is without a team after being cut this offseason, and now they are going with another former Heisman Trophy winner to turn things around.

Andy Dalton, Joe Flacco and Ben Roethlisberger are some of the best in the game. Flacco and Roethlisberger have each won Super Bowls, and Dalton has never had a losing record since becoming a professional. That means the Ravens, Bengals and Steelers are going to beat up on each other for the foreseeable future.

This is just the first of a multi-part series of rankings of each position inside the AFC North. We start with the offense first and make our way through every group leading up to organized team activities and training camp. Let’s start the rankings with the not only the top quarterback in the division, but one of the best in the NFL.
