The Baltimore Ravens will have some interesting position battles to watch come the start of organized team activities. Let’s breakdown some of the key spots up for grabs this offseason.

There are some things we do not have to question. Joe Flacco is the Ravens franchise quarterback. Marshal Yanda is the best offensive lineman on the team. A healthy Terrell Suggs is the best pass rusher on the roster.

Some guys know they are making the squad this season. Not everyone has that fortune.

The Ravens found out last season how important it is to have quality depth behind the starters. They placed 20 players on injured reserve last season, including some of the team’s biggest stars. They had no answers for the volume of injuries suffered and it resulted in a 5-11 season.

More from The Baltimore Wire

The Ravens added 22 rookies to the mix after an offseason which also saw them land Eric Weddle, Ben Watson and Mike Wallace. With the influx of new talent, a handful of guys who made the club last year could not be back this season.

Most teams strive for competition everywhere. The Ravens have stockpiled some talent at certain positions that will force Ozzie Newsome to make some tough decisions. That’s not necessarily a bad problem to have.

Before we get started, there were a handful of other positions to choose from before narrowing our list down to three. There is a surplus of tight ends on the roster that will make for interesting discussion. Who knows how the snaps are going to be divided between the wide receivers. There are some openings on the offensive line that need to be worked out as well. There is a lot to look out for once training camp comes around.

With that said, there are three roster battles that catch my attention the most. One is an obvious choice. Another could be the key to defense this season. The other might not seem so important, but could be a fight for one of the last spots on the roster.

Let’s start with the latter as there is possibly only one opening available on the Ravens very good defensive line.
