Mel Kiper has released his second mock draft, and this time he has the Baltimore Ravens selecting Ohio State pass rusher Joey Bosa with the sixth overall pick.

The master of mock drafts from the “worldwide leader” has released his second mock draft of the year and it is one that should make Baltimore Ravens fans happy. Mel Kiper has Baltimore selecting Ohio State pass rusher Joey Bosa with the sixth overall pick, a move that would be welcomed by everyone in Ravens Nation.

Many draft experts have Bosa as the top overall talent in this draft so it would come as a huge surprise if he ends up with the Ravens. Kiper also acknowledges that a lot would have to go the Ravens way for him to fall to number six. Here is Kiper’s explanation about why Baltimore land Bosa:

“At this point, a team that has multiple needs will find it hard to pass on Bosa, who is the best player on the board here. He comes in with the ability to immediately upgrade the pass rush, and unlike many rookies who can get after the passer, Bosa is also a dynamic run defender.”

In his first mock draft, Kiper had the Ravens selecting Notre Dame offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley. Many questioned the need for a tackle with Eugene Monroe and Ricky Wagner already in the mix, and pending free agent Kelechi Osemele able to play the position as well. The Ravens do not necessarily need a tackle, but if he is the best available at No. 6, that’s the route they could go.

It makes sense for the Ravens to address the defense this offseason. The Ravens spent much of last year’s draft improving the offense by selecting Breshad Perriman, Maxx Williams, Javorius Allen, Darren Waller and Nick Boyle. After posting disappointing sack totals in 2015, a pass rusher is sure to be a top target.

Adding Bosa would be huge for Dean Pees’ defense as he comes from a program that prepares players for the NFL. Pass rushers also do not have a difficult transition into the NFL so he would make an instant impact for the Ravens.

This is when the vibe is ruined. As much as Ravens Nation would like to see this happen, Bosa has been considered the top talent in this draft since last year. It’s hard to imagine a scenario where he falls out of the top-five picks. Kiper has Oregon defensive end DeForest Buckner going third overall to the San Diego Chargers. It was not that long ago that another Oregon pass rusher was overhyped and has failed to deliver in the NFL – yes, I am talking about Dion Jordan of the Miami Dolphins.

Another player that has been consistently linked to the Ravens is Florida State’s Jalen Ramsey. Kiper has the talented defensive back going one pick before the Ravens to the Jacksonville Jaguars. If the Ravens get to the draft and both Bosa and Ramsey are still available at No. 5, they will rush to the podium to select whichever player the Jags decide not to take.

The other wildcard in this mock draft is that two quarterbacks go in the first five picks as well. Kiper has the Cleveland Browns selecting Carson Wentz at No. 2, which is the first I have seen of Wentz going so high in the first round. He also has the Dallas Cowboys drafting Jared Goff, who many thought would be the only QB taken in the first round.

There is one thing that all Ravens fans should agree on: if Bosa is still on the board and the team does not take him, a lot of people will be wondering what Ozzie Newsome‘s plan is this offseason.
