Dez Wells will throw first pitch at Red Sox vs. Orioles game

Dez Wells will throw out the first pitch for Friday’s Red Sox vs. Orioles game at Camden Yards.

Dez Wells, the former Maryland basketball star (Ouch…That is hard to say and even harder to come to grips with) will be on hand for the Red Sox vs. Orioles game tonight at Camden Yards in Baltimore to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Wells took to Twitter on Monday to make his followers aware of his big day and how he thinks he will perform from the mound.

If the emoji at the end of Wells’ tweet tells us anything about his confidence, it might not be his most spectacular performance in the state of Maryland.

Sure, Dez is a great athlete.

I mean the guy is quick, strong, athletic, versatile, has hops and can be a leader for any team.

But just because someone is great at one thing doesn’t mean they will be great at everything they do.

Take 50 Cent for example. He’s a famous rapper. Famous rapper does not equal the ability to throw a baseball accurately from the mound.

How about President Barack Obama? Got elected President of the United States…twice. Getting elected President of the United States does not mean you can throw a strike (look at this rainbow).

Carly Rae Jepsen, I really really really really really really like you, but you stunk this one up.

We all know that Dez Wells is a great basketball player, and his ability to get to the rim and slam it home has never been questioned.

But throwing a baseball over a small white plate from 60 feet away is not the same.

Let’s hope Dez brings his A-game to Camden Yards tonight and doesn’t follow in the footsteps of those who have created some of baseball’s most

memorable

horrible first pitches in the history of first pitches.

Maybe Dez can help get the Orioles back in the win column tonight.

The game starts at 7:05pm. Tune in or head out to Camden Yards if you’re a student and get tickets for $7 with a school I.D.

Go Dez and Go O’s!
