  • After a second consecutive season finishing 7-6 with a bowl loss, Maryland fans have been awaiting and dreading this day.

The day their star wide receiver and Maryland native, Stefon Diggs decides to make his decision to come back for his senior year or put his name in the 2015 NFL Draft.

    Well, today is that day.

After being reported by Matt Zenitz of the Baltimore Sun, Diggs himself tweeted out his thanks to Terp Nation.

Stefon Diggs, a former 5-star recruit out of high school helped keep the Terps relevant during a time where Maryland football was going through coaching and conference changes.

He was the guy who took pride in his home state and wanted to stay and help build this program into something all Marylanders could be proud off.

During his freshman year, with a whole cast of quarterbacks under center throughout the year, Diggs caught 54 passes for 848 yards and six touchdowns, returning two kicks for touchdowns and was one of the Terps only explosive offensive weapons

During his sophomore year he raised his yards per catch mark up to 17.3, but was out the final six games of the season due to a broken leg suffered against Wake Forest. He finished 2013 with 587 yards and three touchdowns.

This past season, Diggs caught 62 passes for 792 yards and five touchdowns in 10 games, setting a career high in receptions but a career low in yards per catch. He suffered a lacerated kidney in the Penn State game, but was able to return in Maryland’s bowl game loss to Stanford.

Diggs went out on a high note in Maryland’s bowl game, catching 10 passes for 138 yards which were both bowl records for Maryland.

If Diggs would have stayed one more season, he might have been able to have that break out year everyone was hoping he would have. But, instead we hope he has a break out rookie season in the NFL in 2015 and stays healthy.

Stefon Diggs’ time at Maryland has come to an end. But the movement he helped to start is just beginning.

Thank you Stefon for all the great memories. Best of luck in the NFL!
