Baltimore Ravens vs Atlanta Falcons: Who’s Playing, Who’s Not

facebooktwitterreddit

The number one thing that pops into your head when you see the Baltimore Ravens playing the Atlanta Falcons is the starting quarterbacks on each respective team and their similarities. Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan were both drafted in the first round of the 2008 draft and their numbers have been largely identical throughout their careers. Flacco however, has had more success in the playoffs, winning eight more postseason games than Ryan.

That should be something to look out for in this Week 7 match up. It will be only the second time that these two quarterbacks have gone head-to-head in their careers, and it will be the first time in Baltimore.

Another factor that will play into this game is the list of injuries. These always play a big role and will continue to do so this coming week. So let’s take a look at some of the injuries with potential impact upon this game:

DOUBTFUL: LT Eugene Monroe (knee), LG Kelechi Osemele (knee)

Both of these players missed last week’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and they will likely miss this week’s game as well. This will leave the entire left side of the offensive line to back-up players.

James Hurst and John Urschel will be those two replacements. They performed very well last week against the Bucs, allowing the running game to rush for over 150 yards and leading Joe Flacco to a career-game in which he threw five touchdown passes.

More from Baltimore Ravens

While the extent of Osemele’s injury is unknown, you should only expect Monroe to miss another three weeks at the most.

PROBABLE: DT Timmy Jernigan, WR Marlon Brown (pelvis), WR Kamar Aiken (concussion)

Marlon Brown missed last week’s competition with Tampa Bay but will likely return this week. His absence opened up the door for rookie Michael Campanaro, who caught his first career touchdown reception.

The Ravens could get a huge boost on the defensive line if rookie defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan is able to return this week, which it appears that he will.

The second-round pick did not miss a day of practice this week and participated in drills for the first time since Week 2. He is listed as probable and should be good to go for Sunday’s game.

OUT: DT Chris Canty (wrist infection), DT Christo Bilukidi (ankle)

The Ravens have ruled out two big defensive lineman for Week 7. They both missed the entire week of practice.

With the absence of these two players, Jernigan’s return would be even larger for the Baltimore Ravens. DeAngelo Tyson and Pernell McPhee would still be relied upon heavily even if Jernigan was to participate in this game, but not nearly as much as if he was not available.

Douglas OUT for Falcons, four other players on injury report

Veteran wide receiver Harry Douglas has been ruled out by the Falcons with a foot injury.

The four other players on the injury report are all probable. Those players are as follows: Julio Jones (ankle), Devin Hester (hamstring), Price Shembo (knee), and Jonathan Babineaux.
