Baltimore Ravens to Re-Sign Dominique Franks

Remember him? Dominique Franks was brought into Baltimore a few months ago to add veteran help in the secondary. However, he was included in the Ravens last waive of cuts. After finding out that Asa Jackson will miss an extended period of time, having suffered a severely sprained toe, the Ravens will re-sign the five-year veteran.

The secondary has not been a bright spot on the Ravens defense this season. In fact, it has been quite the opposite.

Starting cornerback Lardarius Webb missed most of the first four weeks with a back injury, and due to that, third-year corners Chykie Brown and Asa Jackson had to fill in. They did not perform well at all.

Veteran safety Darian Stewart was brought in to help out the secondary, but so far he has not done that. Although he leads the secondary in tackles, he is not looking good in coverage. The same can be said about Matt Elam, whom the Ravens drafted 32nd overall in last year’s draft. He has gotten burned on a number of occasions.

I, personally, am excited about this move. With Will Hill returning from his suspension next week, the Ravens will add some needed veterans and talent to the struggling secondary.
