Baltimore Ravens: Steve Smith Sr among the best

Yesterday I went through the gauntlet of football emotions, to be as dramatic as possible. Sleeping in and waking up to left over sushi from my girlfriend’s and my sushi and college football date last night (sushi for breakfast is wonderful btw) and Richard Sherman hosting Gameday Morning was a good way to start. JJ Watt cemented his status as currently the best player in the NFL. I cried over my New Orleans Saints as I watched a game that to me symbolized the end of an era. And lastly, but most importantly, Steve Smith Sr. added more to his legacy and his case for hopefully one day wearing a coveted gold jacket.

Smith is sending a loud message to everyone in the NFL that he’s far from done

After four weeks of football, Steve Smith is not only the Baltimore Ravens best receiver but is emerging as one of the premier wide receivers in the league. I can’t speak highly enough of how impressive Steve looks and plays at such a late stage in his career. And after sending his old team, the Carolina Panthers, back home to wipe the egg off their faces, Smith is sending a loud message to everyone in the NFL that he’s far from done.

Sunday Smith faced his old team at M&T Bank Stadium, a game highly personal to Steve, and he did not disappoint as he was nearly flawless in exacting his revenge on the ball club that cut him not even a year ago.

The veteran wideout looks to still be in top physical condition. Steve was running up and down the field all day recording the most receptions on the team with seven for 139 yards averaging 19.3 per reception, with one of 61 yards, and two touchdowns. At a certain point, Steve Smith looked bored and must’ve been thinking “Screw it, I’m gonna catch other people’s passes too,” as he caught a pass intended for Ravens tight end Owen Daniels, and then ran it in for a touchdown.

More from Baltimore Ravens

After a definitive 38-10 victory over Carolina, both the Baltimore Ravens and Steve Smith seem to be firing on all cylinders. Everything is bouncing back from last year’s abysmal season. The Ravens have all the tools to keep winning and Steve Smith is showing he still has much football left in him.
