Eugene Monroe to Undergo Knee Surgery, Miss 3-4 Weeks

Baltimore Ravens right tackle Eugene Monroe will undergo minor knee surgery and miss at least a few weeks.

This comes at a terrible time for the Ravens, as their offensive line was really starting to gel together. However, that gelling will have to be delayed for some time.

Monroe had a big role in the Ravens’ offensive line coming together. The 2013 trade that sent him to Baltimore looked like a steal when it happened, and looks even more so now after the success Monroe has had in purple and black.

Baltimore re-signed the veteran this offseason to long-term deal, locking him up right when free agency started. It was a top priority for the Ravens, and everyone knew they would get it done and they had to get it done.

Rookie guard James Hurst is set to replace Monroe at the left tackle position during his absence. We haven’t seen much of him, but in his limited preseason playing-time, he did look pretty versatile and skillful.

Hopefully the other four players on the offensive line can continue to succeed in Gary Kubiak‘s offensive scheme as they have in the first three weeks.
