We learned something about the Baltimore Ravens running backs situation Week 3 in Cleveland: Lorenzo Taliaferro can play. Maybe we learned something else as well: The Ravens picture Justin Forsett largely as a change of pace. Beyond that, though? Anybody’s guess.

When Bernard Pierce comes back, he will likely be the starter. The Ravens are typically slow to mess with the starting lineup, valuing continuity and job security.

That said, Gary Kubiak and John Harbaugh have not been shy about going with whoever is hot in the backfield. Forsett got the bulk of the carries Week 1, Pierce Week 2 and Taliaferro Week 3. Further, when Taliaferro seemed to wear down, the Ravens rode Forsett for a stretch late in the Cleveland game.

Let’s take a look at what we know about each back and try to forecast what his role will be going forward.
