The Baltimore Orioles have acquired outfielder Alejandro De Aza from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for minor league right-handers Mark Blackmar and Miguel Chalas.

The 30-year old has hit to a .246 average this season, but his power has taken a step back. He hit a career high 17 home runs last year, but has only hit five this season.

He is making $4.25 million this season and is eligible for free agency after the 2015 season.

With backup outfielders Steve Pearce and Delmon Young performing very well, it will be interesting to see what role he plays for the Baltimore Orioles.

During the broadcast this evening, Dan Duquette spoke of liking his speed, defense in left field, and that he particularly matches up well against team being faced down the stretch and into the playoffs.
