Baltimore Ravens Trim Roster Down to 75

The Baltimore Ravens trimmed their roster from 90 players to 75 on Monday afternoon in the first wave of cuts.

Among those cuts were third-year receiver LaQuan Williams out of Maryland and safety Omar Brown out of Marshall. Both have seen the playing field for the Ravens previously, but they both won’t be participating in the 2014 Ravens campaign.

Head coach John Harbaugh stated how hard it really is to make these moves. “Today is one of two really challenging days in the National Football League,” Harbaugh said. “We’ve all been turned down for an opportunity at some point in time, and that’s really what today is for a lot of guys whose dream it is to play in the National Football League.”

With that being said, let’s take a look at the 15 players that were included in the Ravens’ first set of cuts:

Defensive ends Kapron Lewis-Moore and Brent Urban were both placed on the injured reserve list due to knee injuries, and offensive guard Will Rackley was placed on the IR due to a concussion.

After cutting LaQuan Williams, deciding which receivers should make the final cut will be a little easier. However, it will still be a tough decision.

Competing for the final receiver spot(s) are: Deonte Thompson, Jeremy Butler, Kamar Aiken, and Michael Campanaro. Campanaro is likely to make the roster due to him being picked in the seventh round of this years draft, but if the Ravens are to carry six wide receivers, then they are going to have a tough decision on their hands.

Lucky for us, we aren’t the ones making the decisions, so just sit back and enjoy the show.
