Steve Blake signs two-year deal with former team.

Maryland’s all-time assists leader (972), Steve Blake  has made up his mind unlike some free agents this summer (Lebron, Melo).

The former Terrapin guard who helped guide Maryland to the 2002 national championship has decided to sign a two-year deal with the Portland Trail Blazers.

The contract is reportedly worth $4.2 million with a player option for the second year.

Blake is no stranger to Rip City as he previously played with the Blazers for four seasons. From 2007-2009, Blake became a fan favorite and had some of his best statistical seasons during those years.

2009 was the year he averaged a career high 11 points per game and 5 assists per game.

Over his 11-year NBA career, Blake has averaged 6.9 points, 4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds.

The Blazers get a solid guard in Blake that will help to back up All-Star guard Damian Lillard.

Blake’s wife Kristen is excited about the news as well.

Side note, Blake will get to wear the number he made famous at Maryland (#25) during this go around with the Blazers.
