This post marks the 500th article since the birth of The Baltimore Wire on November 13th of last year. So, two days short of six months of operation, we have brought 500 articles to readers on the Ravens, Orioles, Terps, etc.

It has been great fun and a very instructive experience. It has been a pleasure to get to know some of you Baltimore and Maryland regional sports fans over this time. And it would be great to hear from you more frequently.

Our coverage has been particularly focused on the Orioles, in that baseball and the Baltimore Orioles are my background most primarily, dating back to the mid 60s.

We started the blog more than halfway through the Ravens 2013 season, and we have learned a lot about how to cover a NFL team with the ebb and flow of the year-round schedule. We will be rapidly growing our Ravens coverage and materials even in the coming weeks.

It would be our desire to do more to report on the Terrapins. If you or someone you know is a rabid Terps fan and would like to write about UMD, we’d be glad to hear from them.

And we are going to be featuring more on varied other Maryland colleges and high schools. There will soon be a series of several articles on some of the top high school athletes in the state. We would welcome hearing about those you might know who excel at a high level and are taking their skills to the collegiate ranks.

So thank you for being our friends “out there.”  And we would be so thankful to have you spread the word on Facebook and Twitter about this site.

Thanks again, and I will hope to be back to talk about article posting #1,000 well before our first anniversary date.

Warmly,

Randy Buchman – editor
