The Terps are Final Four bound!

After seven years, the Maryland Terrapins women’s basketball team will be heading back to the Final Four!

The last time the Terps advanced to the Final Four was in 2006.

We all know the story. Maryland went on to capture their first national championship.

All-American Allyssa Thomas, Coach Brenda Frese, and the rest of the turtle squad look poised to capture the program’s second national championship as they now head to Nashville where they will get a rematch with Notre Dame in the semi-finals on Sunday, April 6.

The journey for this team has not been easy, and they have proved themselves to be an elite team as they knocked off #1 seed Tennessee and as well as the host team and #3 seed Louisville.

Tonight’s win over the Cardinals showed that Maryland has what it takes to win a national championship. They have the talent, they play as a team, and they persevere to the end.

A lot of teams might have let that lead slip away at the end and allowed themselves to lose focus by the onslaught of three-pointers from Shoni Schimmel, who finished with 31 points for Louisville.

But, not this team.

The Terps were led by their All-America forward, Alyssa Thomas who scored 22 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in what was a nail-biter.

This Maryland team will go down as one of the greatest in school history. Two more games stand in their way of a national title and you can bet Coach Frese will have them ready to go this weekend in Nashville.

Go Terps!
