The #8 seed Maryland Terrapins will face the #9 seed Florida State Seminoles in the second round of the ACC Tournament.

The 2013-2014 men’s college basketball season has come to an end. There are a lot of great teams across the country which should make for a lot of fun throughout the month of March. The madness gets going with the conference tournaments and the ACC should be a fun one to watch. With 15 teams in the ACC this year, the tournament gets that much bigger and hopefully that much better! The regular season champion Virginia Cavaliers along with Syracuse, Duke, and North Carolina round out the top-4 seeds in the tournament. The ACC tourney starts Tuesday, March 11 and will conclude on Sunday March 16 in Greensboro, NC.

For teams who did not do enough throughout the regular season to punch their ticket to the big dance, conference tournaments bring with them a second chance.

If a team can run the table and win four or five games in a row, they can find themselves automatically in the big dance, no questions asked. For the Maryland Terrapins, this year’s tournament will once again be their only lifeline to making to the NCAA tournament.

Here is the bracket for this years tournament.

For the Terps, it looks like they will have to win the whole thing if they want to go dancing this year. Maryland is the #8 seed in this year’s tournament and will face the #9 seed Florida State Seminoles in the second round this Thursday. A win on Thursday would match them up against the ACC regular season champion Virginia Cavaliers. The Terps are coming off of a huge win over the Cavs at home and have a lot of confidence heading into this year’s tournament.

Mark my words. Nobody want’s to go up against this Maryland team. They have proven that they can hang with the big dogs and now have proof that they can beat them.

For Mark Turgeon and the Terps, this is an opportunity to prove themselves as a team and to stick it to the ACC by leaving with a championship. #61andDone
