Terps Face Georgia Tech in ACC Home-Opener

Maryland (9-5, 1-0 ACC) already opened up ACC play with a 88-80 win on the road against Boston College on December 12th.

This ACC match-up will be Maryland’s last ACC home opener and gives them an opportunity to extend their current winning streak to three games while moving to 2-0 in the ACC.

Seth Allen, who was originally scheduled to make his return during one of the first two games in January has already been cleared by the doctors and has two games under his belt going into what will be a tough ACC schedule.

The Terps will look to Allen to bring this Maryland Terrapins basketball team together and hopefully things will improve heading into the new year.

Allen is averaging 10.5 points per game as well as 3.5 assists in his first two games of the season. Look for those numbers to increase as he gets his legs underneath him and has the ACC schedule as motivation to play well.

Georgia Tech lost their sophomore forward Robert Carter Jr., who was the ACC’s leading rebounder at 9.2 per game. He has been sidelined indefinitely with a tear of the meniscus in his left knee. Despite losing Carter, the Yellow Jackets also have the conference’s third leading rebounder in Daniel Miller who averages 8.2 per game.

Miller is also one of four Yellow  Jackets averaging double-figures in scoring this season. Senior guard, Trae Golden leads the team with 13.2 points per game.

Maryland seems to have their confidence back ever since Seth Allen returned to the line-up and I expect a big performance from both he and Jake Layman as they look to leave the ACC in a B1G way.

This is what we’ve all been waiting for! ACC play is finally here, unfortunately for the last time. Take it all in, and we will see if these Terps can leave their mark in ACC history.
