It’s official!

The Maryland Terrapins (7-5) will take on the Marshall Thundering Herd (9-4) on December 27th in the 2013 Military Bowl.

The Military Bowl president released a statement about the two teams participating in this years bowl game.

"“We are looking forward to a first-rate match-up,” Military Bowl President & Executive Director Steve Beck said. “Maryland has built plenty of momentum and finished this season strong, while Marshall features a high-powered offense. We’re excited about this game being one of our best ever.”"

Maryland head coach Randy Edsall confirmed the bowl destination last night via Twitter.

The Military Bowl gives the Terrapins great opportunities as they look to finish the season with eight wins.

The Military Bowl is played at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, which is located in Annapolis, the state capital of Maryland.

During the Terps pre-season, they held two scrimmages in different parts of the state; one in Baltimore, the other in Middletown. By playing in this years Military Bowl, the Terps will be able to continue spreading Maryland Pride across the state.

A local bowl game will hopefully draw more fans to Annapolis to support the team. Fans seemed to dwindle in their presence as the season wore on for the Terps.

Randy Edsall has worked very hard on building the Maryland fan base, and a win in front of local fans will help the program as they transition to the Big Ten following the bowl game.

Recruits will be watching this game, and if Maryland wins, they will not have to worry about others schools using the “losing program” card to try and sway recruits.

The Terrapins have improved in the win column each season under Coach Randy Edsall and they will look to keep that momentum going heading into a new conference next season.
