Sunday’s game between the Terps and Beavers will bring with it a few firsts. This will be the first time in history that Maryland and Oregon State meet on the hardwood. Playing Oregon State with head coach Craig Robinson at the helm of the program also brings presidential ties along with the game.

Sure enough, President Barack Obama is expected to be in attendance with Robinson’s sister, First Lady Michelle Obama. So if you are planning on attending the game, please check out the fan advisory page at UMTerps.com here.

Maryland won’t have their game plan canceled just because the President will be in the building. You can expect the Terps to come out with something to prove coming off of a lackluster performance Wednesday against Abilene Christian.

The Terps will look to cut down on the turnovers and work the ball inside out. Dez Wells will probably start at point guard and hopefully his presence will help the Terps get things going early.

Forward, Charles Mitchell will be a force inside that Maryland needs to unleash early. Feeding the big man early will help them spread the court with Evan Smotrycz and Jake Layman.

Oregon State is a team full of experience with six seniors on the roster. One of those seniors, Roberto Nelson will be someone Maryland must find and lock down. Nelson has scored 60 points through the first two games of the season for the Beavers.

This will be a good challenge for the Terps before they head to Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands next Friday. Maryland will be in the news on Monday morning. Whether it’s because the President was in attendance or because the Terps dominated the Beavers is up to them. Here’s to hoping for the latter.

Go Terps!
